LOW FREQUENCY (LF) INVERTERS

  • Operate using reliable and sturdy power transformers.
  • Can operate at a peak power level of 300% of nominal power level for several seconds. They also operate at a cooler temperature.
  • Are ideal for inductive loads and run well with high surge loads and higher power spikes.
  • Are reliable and stable with strong shock resistance.
  • Have a lower efficiency than HF inverter and the no-load loss is higher.
  • Have a wide range of technical features and capabilities.
  • Larger and more bulky due to power transformer.
  • More expensive than high frequency inverter.
  • Relatively simple internal structure makes them easy to repair.
  • Generally carry a 5 year warranty (with optional extended warranties available).

HIGH FREQUENCY (HF) INVERTERS

  • Operate using electronic switching.
  • Can operate at a peak power level of 200% of nominal power level but only for a small fraction of a second.
  • Are therefore more likely to burn out when driving inductive loads (water pumps, refrigerators etc).
  • Have a much lower safety performance.
  • Have a high conversion efficiency and the no-load loss is low.
  • Have less technical features and capabilities than LF inverters.
  • Smaller footprint than LF inverter, and therefore also weigh less.
  • Less expensive than low frequency inverter.
  • Due to complex circuitry and many components, they are difficult to repair.
  • Generally carry a 2 year warranty.
